Money Badger ("Money Badger", "we", "our", or "us") provides budgeting, financial planning, transaction review, and related financial organization tools.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it is stored, and the choices available to you.

By creating an account or using Money Badger, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text)
• Email verification status
• Multi-factor authentication settings (if enabled)
• Account preferences and settings
• Invite code redemption information

Financial Information

Depending on how you use Money Badger, we may collect:

• Account names and account metadata
• Transaction records
• Transaction descriptions
• Transaction dates
• Transaction amounts
• User-created categories
• User-created rules
• Budget information
• Income planning information
• Import history

Money Badger does not modify your original imported transaction data. Financial interpretation and categorization are stored separately from imported transaction records whenever possible.

Plaid Data

If you connect a financial institution through Plaid:

• Money Badger receives account and transaction information from Plaid.
• Money Badger does not receive or store your bank username or password.
• Plaid may collect information directly under its own privacy practices.

Money Badger currently uses Plaid only for transaction and account data necessary to support budgeting and financial planning features.

Google Sheets Data

If you connect a Google account for Google Sheets imports:

• We receive authorization from Google through OAuth.
• We may store spreadsheet identifiers, selected sheet information, and imported transaction data.
• We do not access spreadsheets that you have not authorized.

Feedback and Survey Information

If you submit feedback or participate in surveys, we collect:

• Feedback content
• Survey responses
• Product improvement suggestions
• Bug reports
• Related metadata necessary to investigate reported issues

Technical Information

We may collect technical information necessary to operate and secure the service, including:

• Session identifiers
• Security events
• Authentication events
• Browser and device information
• Application logs

This information is used primarily for security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, and service operation.

Money Badger may generate and store operational metrics, aggregate statistics, usage counts, system health information, operational alerts, security events, infrastructure readiness information, integration health information, and administrative dashboards used to administer, monitor, investigate, troubleshoot, improve, and secure the service.

Examples may include:

• Account counts
• Import counts
• Survey response totals
• Feedback totals
• Integration connection counts
• User lifecycle statistics
• System health and operational status information
• Operational alerts
• Infrastructure readiness
• Integration health

These metrics are used for administration, product improvement, operational monitoring, and security purposes.

Where practical, Money Badger uses aggregated or de-identified information for product analytics and service improvement.

We use information to:

• Provide budgeting and planning features
• Import and organize financial information
• Authenticate users
• Protect accounts and prevent abuse
• Provide customer support
• Improve the product
• Investigate bugs and security issues
• Generate operational metrics, onboarding analytics, feedback analytics, survey analytics, usage statistics, and system health reporting used to administer, monitor, improve, and secure the service
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell personal information.

Money Badger may use third-party providers to support operation of the platform.

These providers may include:

• Plaid for financial account connectivity
• Google for Google Sheets integration services
• Hosting and infrastructure providers
• Email delivery providers
• Stripe for billing services when billing features are enabled

These providers may process information only as necessary to provide their services and according to their own privacy practices and contractual obligations.

Money Badger uses cookies and similar technologies necessary for authentication, security, and operation of the service.

These technologies may be used to:

• Maintain authenticated sessions
• Protect against unauthorized access
• Prevent abuse and fraud
• Improve reliability and security

Disabling certain cookies may prevent portions of the service from functioning correctly.

Money Badger does not use advertising cookies.

Money Badger uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information.

These protections include:

• Encrypted network communication (HTTPS/TLS)
• Password hashing
• Multi-factor authentication support
• Access controls
• Session security controls
• Security monitoring and logging

No system can guarantee absolute security.

Money Badger retains information as long as reasonably necessary to:

Information may be retained for different periods depending on the type of data and operational requirements.

Users may request deletion of their account.

When an account is deleted, Money Badger removes or deletes:

• Account credentials
• Authentication records
• Sessions
• Preferences
• Financial accounts
• Transactions
• Budgets
• Categories
• Rules
• Income planning records
• Import history and import staging records
• Integration connection records
• Related user-owned financial planning data

Before account deletion is finalized, Money Badger attempts to revoke connected third-party integrations, including Plaid and Google integrations where applicable.

If required third-party access revocation cannot be completed successfully, account deletion may not be finalized until the issue is resolved.

Certain operational records may be retained after account deletion for product improvement, abuse prevention, historical analysis, security, and operational recordkeeping purposes.

These records may include:

• Feedback submissions
• Survey responses
• Invite redemption records

Where supported by the system, these records are detached from the deleted user account.

Invite redemption records may retain information associated with the original redemption event, including the email address used during invite redemption, to preserve alpha access history, investigate abuse, prevent duplicate access attempts, maintain operational records, support historical reporting, and comply with legal obligations where required.

Retained records are not used to restore deleted accounts.

You may:

• Access information associated with your account through the Money Badger application.
• Update or correct account information that you have provided.
• Disconnect connected third-party services such as Plaid and Google integrations.
• Delete your account through available account management tools.
• Contact Money Badger regarding privacy questions or concerns.

Requests may be limited where necessary to comply with legal obligations, maintain platform security, prevent fraud, or protect the rights of other users.

Money Badger is operated from the United States.

Information collected through the service may be processed, transferred, and stored in the United States or other locations where service providers operate.

By using Money Badger, you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions that may have different privacy laws than those in your location.

Money Badger is intended only for individuals who are at least 18 years old.

By creating an account, you represent that you are 18 years of age or older.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When material changes occur, we may provide notice through the application, email, or other reasonable methods.

The updated version becomes effective when published.
